Every story of our experiences with Alzheimers is unique. There is no right way or wrong way to handle any given situation that arises. Seldom can the same situation be handled in the same way twice. Seldom will family members agree on how things should be handled. Sometimes a horrible thing such as this pulls families closer together,sometimes.... it tears them apart. Do we take ourselves into the world that is now theirs, into what is now reality for them or do we attempt to drag them back to ours? Repeatedly telling them that what they know to be true is all wrong, it isn't how things really are. Standing in their shoes...which is a lie? I know for me guilt was an ongoing emotion on a daily basis! Never knowing if your doing the right thing.
